Obtaining Data

Click on the "Shortcut to Tap Controller 3.1.exe" icon. Upon successful installation, the following should appear.

Windows Vista Install Screen

Select "RS-232" in the "Interface Type" area and press "Search for TAP". "TAP RS-232 Ready" should appear. The "Data Progress" indicator will change while the software is searching for a connected TAP controller. If it does not locate a TAP controller, try a second time.

The "Summary Data" provides a short summary of the present state of the TAP Controller and the condition of the filter elements. The "All Data" retrieves both the "Summary Data" and a detailed history of events.

Select the desired "Data Type" and then press "Get TAP Data". A "File Save As" window will appear. The data may only be saved with the ".csv" file type. This type is "comma separated values" which may then be automatically imported by Microsoft Excel. In the event that a particular PC does not have Microsoft Excel, then the data will be viewed by the default ".csv" file type program currently installed. This is usually Microsoft Notepad.

The "Data Progress" bar will indicate the transference of data. Upon completion of the data transference, the "Show TAP Data" button will be enabled. Pressing this will cause the PC to open the ".csv" file viewer, as mentioned above.
