Antunes Welcomes Students in Career Awareness Internship Program

July 28, 2017

CAROL STREAM, ILLINOIS  – Antunes, a family owned and operated company specializing in the manufacturing of foodservice and water filtration equipment, hosted 14 high school students on Friday, July 28 for a site visit to its Carol Stream headquarters as part of Companies That Care’s 2017 Career Awareness Internship Program.

Antunes sponsored the event to assist students in exploring their career options and foster an understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with jobs in various fields. Companies That Care, a national not-for-profit organization that promotes socially responsible employer engagement, paired Antunes with underserved Chicago-area high school students to give them the opportunity to formulate realistic career goals.

“Antunes is thrilled to welcome these enterprising students to explore their future career options and gain insight into their potential professions,” said Glenn Bullock, Antunes owner and CEO. “We are proud to be a sponsor of Companies That Care’s career program and help tomorrow’s professionals discover career opportunities that align with their skills and interests.”

The site visit included presentations from Antunes’ executive team covering careers in product development, sales, quality assurance, and manufacturing operations. Antunes provided the visiting students with in-depth tours of the company’s technical service, assembly, customer service, and product development departments.

In addition to the tour of the office and manufacturing plant, students engaged in a panel discussion with Antunes team members about making well-informed career decisions.

The site visit to Antunes was part of a four-week internship through Companies That Care, which also features job shadowing and professional skills training. Participating students graduate from the program on August 4 at Chicago Literacy Alliance’s Literacenter.
