How an oven problem became a big opportunity for A.J. Antunes & Co.

Edit

In 1961, the Underwriters Laboratories created a new safety standard for industrial ovens. Flame-heated ovens were required to have air and gas pressure sensors. Though this was an important safety feature, there was no sensor available that could do this, leaving companies scrambling to find a way to comply with this new standard.

Many affected companies were A.J. Antunes & Co. customers. August Antunes, founder, saw this as an opportunity. He created a simple and affordable component that complied with this new requirement and showed it to area manufacturers. Soon, requests poured in. It was such a success that A.J. Antunes & Co. developed a new manufacturing division, called Chicago Safety Products Company. In 1988, with the addition of the electronics group, Chicago Safety Products evolved into Antunes Controls.

Today, Antunes Controls is widely valued by engineers who require precision mechanisms. Our exceptional quality products can be found in virtually every building in the world. Plus, with only minor design improvements, our earliest switches are still recognized as industry standards. Antunes Controls currently designs and manufactures a broad range of air differential switches, gas pressure switches, electronic timers, temperature controllers and displays, and time/temperature controllers. We also custom design and manufacture electronic controls to meet specific customer requirements.
